We serve one of the best coffees available in our area, Anodyne and Metropolis.  Metropolis Coffee is a roaster (and cafe) owned by a father and son team, Jeff and Tony Dreyfuss in Chicago. Metropolis won Roaster of the Year last year and were featured in Saveur recently, and their cafe in Chicago consistantly wins Best Latte and Best Cafe in the Chicago Reader and CitySearch. Metropolis is the kind of roaster who visits the coffee farmers and cooperatives to ensure in both quality of flavor and quality of life, and most of the coffee they brew is certified fair trade, and much is organic We've been friends for many years, and we're proud to offer Metropolis as our primary roaster at The National.

Anodyne Coffee Co. is a fiercely independent Milwaukee roaster that has consisntely produced Milwaukee's best coffee year after year.  They have a San Franciscan roaster with which they roast 18 pounds per batch.  Anodyne was the first coffee roaster in Milwaukee to buy certified fair trade beans.

Tony from Metropolis helped us procure the Faema E61, pictured at right with our chief coffee geek Dana. The E61 is a reproduction of the original 1961 Faema which is, both mechanically and spiritually, the heart of the modern espresso machine today. The E61 is a beast and a beauty, a fully manual espresso machine that pours a perfect shot every time, once the operater gets a handle on it.

We also offer fresh, organic juices, Rishi Teas and organic sodas.
